Doner kebabs are everyone's favourite because they are delicious, tender and juicy. For dinner, doner kebabs can be enjoyed with rice and pita bread. I Cooked together with both rice and pita bread . I call it pitta bread but it is a flat roti stuffed with doner kebab, sauce and salad.

 Different from shawarma because of its sauce and marination. Here is the recipe of doner kebab. It should be a nice addition to your dinner.

How to cook doner kebab:

Take chicken breast or beef pieces and marinate with the marination ingredients listed below. Leave for 6 hours and then cook in the oven or even in a pan.

What to serve with doner kebab:

Serve doner kebab with rice or pita bread or homemade flatbread like shawarma, salad and sauces.

How to make doner kebab:

Doner kebab is a traditional Turkish dish, very famous and popular, Pakistani version is shawarma you can say but its marination and seasonings, dressings are different. It's simple to make, the cooking duration in the oven is about 25-30 minutes at 180°C.

So I tell you with step by step instructions, just make sure to follow each step.

INGREDIENTS : 

For Marination:

  • Boneless chicken 4 leg pieces or breast 
  • Medium size onion piece 
  • Garlic 4 cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chilli flakes 2 tbsp.
  • Black pepper 1 tbsp. 
  • Lemon 4 small or 1 big
  • Yogurt 4 tbsp.
  • Chat masala 1 tsp. 
  • Orange food colour
  • 5 Green chillies chopped

Cooking Instructions :

    First, take an onion, garlic cloves and green chillies grind them together with yogurt, make a paste. Add lemon, salt, red chilli flakes, black pepper and apply over chicken pieces and leave for 6 hours for good marination. If you have no time then leave the marinated chicken for at least 2 hours.

 After 2 hours spread the marinated chicken in a baking tray and sprinkle oil over it. You can make it either in the oven or in a frying pan. 

  It can take 30 minutes at 180° in the oven to cook doner kebab, you can turn it in intervals. On the other hand, in a frying pan it can take 15 minutes you can check whether the chicken is cooked on both sides. Then keep aside it and let it cool.

If chicken is hot it cannot be cut properly unless it cools down completely.
Now cut in flat slices.

FOR PITA BREAD (Wrap):

Dough:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. Yeast
1/2 tsp. Sugar
1/4 tsp. Salt
1 tbsp. Oil

Cooking Instructions:

Take yeast and sugar and mix in warm water until it rises. Then add salt, and oil to all-purpose flour, knead the dough. Cover with a damp cloth; rest for at least 2 hrs in a warm place.
After 2 hours the dough is double in size then make a flat round roti with it.

SAUCES:

Sauces are a very important part of doner kebab without it doner kebab remains dry. Here are two kinds of sauces which enhances doner kebab flavor. 
 

Red chilli creamy sauce

10 Red chillies 🌶 grind 
Yogurt  
Salt
Cream (optional)

Grind red chillies add some Yogurt to it to make paste add some cream not too much salt and it is ready,  it is very spicy. 

Mint creamy sauce

Mint leaves 
Yogurt
Cream
Salt

Grind a handful of mint leaves add some yogurt, add salt and cream and mix it. Mint sauce is ready to serve with doner kebab. 

Salad:

Salad can be taken by choice, some people like salad and some not, especially kids are not interested in salad. So much choices choose by your preference. On my side I use following 

Lettuce
Cucumber 
Onion
Tomato

How to serve doner kebab:

Take a pita bread and pour 2-3 tablespoon of sauces, add chicken and garnish with salad. Roll it and wrap it in a butter paper. 

You can also serve doner kebab with rice. 

Doner kebab are delicious with wrap but with rice it tastes superb. If you want to make rice then keep rice soft.
