Shish Kebab (Tawook) is on no. 18 on World's 50 best food list of  CNN Travel. Pick your meat chicken or lamb grill it and serve with rice and vegetables. Shish kebab is an all-time favorite dish in my home. It is from Asian cuisine. It's delicious and yummy dish. Let's start the recipe:


Shish Kebab 

How to make shish kebab:

Pick your meat usually chicken or lamb marinate it. Shove a stick through it then grill or cook in a pan along with vegetables. Cook until meat is tender. 


What are the ingredients used:

Ingredients used for making shish kebabs are very common. For Marination chopped ginger garlic and green chilies, salt, red pepper powder, black pepper powder,  chat masla, yogurt, all spice powder (garam masala), flour, oil, bamboo sticks, bell pepper, tomato, onion.

What to serve with shish kebab:

Shish Kebab is served with spicy rice or roti, naan. You can add mint chatni, raita to give your dish a full pleasure. 

Tips to make perfect shish kebab:

  • Use fresh garlic, ginger and chopped in a chopper instead of adding paste.
  • Use chat masala add it gives recipe bbq flavor. 
  • Use cream and flour for rich texture.
  • Give a coal smoke before cooking in a pan gives it bbq flavor. If grill on coal then skip this. 
  • Use vegetables along with meat on stick. 
INGREDIENTS:

For Marination:
  •  1/2 kg boneless chicken
  • a small piece of a ginger
  • a small piece of garlic
  •  7-8 green chilies
  •  1 tbsp. red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp. chat masala
  • 1 tsp. coriander powder
  • 1 tsp. black pepper powder
  •  1tsp. allspice powder(garam masala)
  • 1 tbsp. salt (as per taste)
  •  2 tbsp. yogurt
  • 2 tbsp. cream (optional if don't have increased yogurt)
  • 2 tbsp. white flour (Maida)
  •   2tbsp. ghee or oil
 Marinate chicken with minced ginger, garlic, and green chili. Add salt, red chili powder, chat masala, coriander powder, black pepper, seasoning powder, add cream, yogurt, flour and oil. Heat a piece of coal and place it in the center of the marinated chicken on a piece of bread, add 1 tbsp. oil on it then close the lid to let the smoke from the coal spread inside and mix well with the chicken. Set aside for 6 hours or overnight to enjoy the flavors.

  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tomato
Cut all vegetables into cube. You can use red, green and yellow bell pepper. 

Now take bamboo skewers and put a cube of green bell pepper, chicken, onion cube, and chicken, then another tomato and chicken piece.

Make all skewers like this one or you can make only chicken on 1 skewer and vegetables on other skewers. You can cook it in a frying pan or cook on coal. It's up to you. I usually make it on the stove in a frying pan and it's delicious. You can eat it with rice or roti and don't forget to make the mint yogurt sauce(chatni).
