Gola kebab recipe

Gola kebabs are mouth-watering oval-shaped kebabs flavoured with Pakistani spices and are incredibly juicy. Traditionally they are cooked on charcoal, but you can also make it in a pan.

These mouth-watering Gola kebabs can be easy to make with regular spices. Their exotic taste and tenderness make them addictive. Gola kebabs are made with minced(ground) beef but if you don`t like red meat then you can make it with minced chicken. Both taste perfect.

I add some bell pepper, tomatoes and onion on a bamboo stick and served with the Gola kebabs. It gives more taste to them.

How to make Pakistani Gola kebab

Add spices to ground meat:

Take minced beef or chicken, add all spices in it and place it for 3-4 hours. It's optional but it makes difference when resting it for some time because all spices are mixed with meat.

Form gola kebab shape:

This is the trick. Now if you had skewers for kebab then it's good but if you don't have then do the same as I did. I take bamboo sticks pile 3 of them together and spray little oil so after cooking Gola kebab will easily take off and make kebabs in an oval shape around sticks. You can take jumbo straw also. They can also be used for this.

 Cook Gola kebab:

Grill Gola kebabs on charcoal to give it more optimal flavour but you can also make it in a frying pan. Give a charcoal smoke to it.

What to serve with Gola kebab :

Gola kebab can be served with mint yogurt chatni (sauce) and naan or garlic naan.

Ingredients

1/2 kg boneless chicken or beef (minced)
1 onion fried and crushed
2 tbsp.  gram flour
2 tbsp.  yogurt
1 tsp. allspice powder (garam masala)
2 tbsp.  coriander leaves chopped
2 tbsp. fresh ginger garlic paste
10 green chillies
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. red chilli powder
1 tsp.  cumin powder (zeera)

Cooking Instructions:

First, you take ground beef or chicken, add all the ingredients. Then chop finely with a hand or electric chopper. This makes the Gola kebab tender. If you skip this and just mix the ingredients, the Gola kebab won't be as soft as it should be.

Now make croquettes or oval balls and if you have skewers even better, but if you don't have one, do as I did.

Pile 2-3 bamboo sticks and spray oil on them, then make kebabs around the sticks. The reason for the spray oil is that the Gola kebab can easily come off the stick.

Now make all the kebabs by following the same method. Now add oil to a frying pan and fry the Gola kebabs. No need to take too much oil as we don't do deep frying, shallow frying is better. Place the kebabs into the pan carefully. Cook on all sides and when ready, serve Gola kebab hot.

Now serve with naan and mint, yogurt chatni and enjoy with your favourite drink.
